“Good therapy is all about helping the person seeking help to feel better, to make healthy decisions and set healthy boundaries, to move from a place of poor emotional health to good emotional health, to make connections with others, and to replace sadness, anxiety, anger, and frustration with happiness, peace, and hopefulness for the future," -K.P. Hi, I'm Toby, a licensed Marriage & Family therapist. I know what it's like to struggle with depression, anxiety, grief and other difficult experiences. Like everyone else, I'm human. I've been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help. My goal as a therapist is to help you get to a place in your life and relationships that you feel like you could take on the world. I also want to make available items that you can work on yourself, without the need for a therapist. You might only see a therapist one hour a week and sometimes that's just not enough. Check out the shop tab to see what's available to help you on your journey.
I Have Empathy For Others And Bring An Open, Nonjudgmental Presence To Sessions
It's important to me to provide a nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself and ensure that the process is collaborative. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to Therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
I have a natural ability to:
Understand people's experiences
Help people feel comfortable
Collaborate with people to set goals and help them reach them
Explain mental health symptoms in an easy to understand way
As A Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies
I believe that we only heal if we take care of ourselves
I believe that therapy works when both of us are committed to your healing
I believe that we can do hard things like going to therapy and we can do them and live better for it
I believe that the biggest thing standing in your way is the fear that life always has to be the way that it is now
Services I provide
One on One Sessions
Therapy sessions between you and I, whether that's in person or telehealth. Beginning therapy can be a big step toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the best life possible—no matter what challenges you may be facing. Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more.
Couples & Family Therapy
Couples therapy focuses on helping the partners to communicate more effectively. This communication should not be abusive, nor should partners ridicule each other when they do express their true feelings. Couples may, therefore, require "coaching" to learn how to speak to each other in more supportive and understanding ways.
